For 33 years Steven Heller has been an art director of the New York Times. He began in 1974 as art director of the OpEd Page. In 1977 he became art director of the Book Review. In 1980 he was made a senior art director.
In addition he writes obituaries of designers and illustrators, reviews of visual books for the Book Review and the Children’s Book sections, and his writings on popular visual culture have appeared in The Week in Review, Arts & Leisure, and Weekend sections.
